Beginner's: Smartphone Edition

This starter class is perfect for building confidence while learning the fundamentals of filmmaking with smart phones

Our class is built on encouragement, celebrating every step of the filmmaking process, including embracing mistakes. If something goes wrong, we simply shout, 'again!' and move forward with a positive attitude. This creates a space where every student feels safe, valued, and heard, because each child has a unique story to tell, and their voice truly matters.

Learning Adventure:

Week 1

Tell it.

Students will dive into script structure while working as a team to create their own three-page story. Then, they’ll explore the basics of acting for film as they rehearse their script.

Week 3

Film it.

It’s action time! This is students' favorite week, where they get to put everything they’ve learned into practice and experience the magic of making a film together. From capturing epic shots to seeing their ideas come to life, it’s an unforgettable hands-on filmmaking adventure.

Week 2

Frame it.

This week, students will step into the world of camera work, lighting, sound, and directing. They’ll gain hands-on experience through class activities and script rehearsals.

Week 4

Edit it.

In the final week of class, we wrap up any remaining filming and jump into editing the film together! On the last day, we celebrate with popcorn and watch their smartphone blockbuster togther!
